Since you've been gone

by Dov Hammer

"Since you've been gone" is a song about love and remembrance, and the strength to carry on living with grief. Written and recorded at home , during the 2020 Covid pandemic, the song draws musical inspiration from classic Delta Blues artists such as Skip James, and with the help of two fantastic guitarists, Assaf Rozov and Yair Fine, Dov Hammer brings his own original and updated version of the Blues.

I see your face in every picture hear your voice in every song
I read your words in every street sign, every day since you’ve been gone

I wake up with the rising sun, put a brand new smile on
They say you fake it ‘till you make it - my soul’s on ice since you’ve been gone

The bed’s too big and empty, the nights are much too long
My mind is blank, I search for memories, they’re fading fast since you’ve been gone

Your clothes are lying in my closet, still got your message on my phone
Your whiskey still sits in my kitchen, I drink alone since you’ve been gone
